Major snowfall targets Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa

Snow Advisories and Winter Storm Watches are now in effect from northeastern Iowa into Wisconsin. Our computer modeling forecast shows some minor snowfall accumulations for northwestern Illinois as well! What's interesting about this event is the fact that the precipitation will be winding down as our temperatures finally get below 32°. This should limit our chances of getting any significant accumulations in the metro. However, I wouldn't be too surprised if we see some pretty fast-falling snowflakes here in the Rockford area during the 7-10pm hours on Friday. At that time there could be some minor accumulations on grassy areas.

The lightest blue shade represents <1/2" of snowfall accumulation.
Each gradient color denotes one inch of snow. From Ames, Iowa to La Crosse and Appleton, Wisconsin could see around six inches by the time this storm wraps up Saturday morning.

If your travels take you north and west of Rockford Friday into early Saturday, be advised that roadways may be snow-covered. -ERIC
