Thanksgiving Day Stats

Thanksgiving is one of the most traveled holidays across the nation and there's nothing worse than having to be tied up because of bad weather. This year, not only is it going to be dry across much of the Midwest and Great Lakes, but it is also going to be relatively warm! Temperatures will range from the middle and upper 50s across the Stateline. Looking back over 100 years of data collected from the National Weather Service in Chicago, temperatures on Thanksgiving have been anything but warm. The most frequent range of high temperatures on Thanksgiving is between 30-39 degrees Fahrenheit. Because Thanksgiving doesn't fall on the same day every year, there isn't an "average" high. Last year was a cold Thanksgiving. Highs reach 39 degrees in Rockford.

As far as precipitation, Rockford typically sees no rain or snow on Thanksgiving. The next highest amount is a trace for both rain and snow. There has never been an instance where over an inch of rain has fallen, and last year we saw just a trace of snow. -CANDY
