Slick Driving Conditions

Winter Weather Advisories have been issued just south of the Rockford Metro Area for Whiteside, Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb Counties until Sunday afternoon. Snow mixed with sleet and even some freezing rain are possible to the south so roadways may become slick as you head out tonight and Sunday.

One wave of low pressure will continue to move east while another one to the south will move from northern Arkansas into southern Illinois before finally moving out to the East coast by Tuesday. As it does, much colder air will fill in behind the system. Snow showers (could be heavy at times) will occur late Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. We're looking anywhere between 3 to 6 inches of snow along the Illinois/Wisconsin boarder with lesser amounts the further north in Wisconsin. Accumulating ice has already been occuring in Iowa, Central Illinois and Northern Missouri today with more expected for Sunday. So if your plans take you anywhere south of I-88, be prepared for quickly deteriorting road conditions! -CANDY
