Interesting Weekend Ahead

Are you ready to be stuck in the middle? It's becoming more apparent that a major area of low pressure will bomb out (meaning rapid intensification will occur) over the upper Midwest. This will cause a major severe weather outbreak for much of the lower Mississippi Valley with flooding rains for our neck of the woods. Winter won't be too far away with this system. Blizzard conditions will be possible from Kansas to Minnesota to Northern Wisconsin. As the system develops on Friday, we will reside north of a warm front. As moist, Gulf moisture surges north of the warm front onto a sub-freezing surface, freezing rain may develop. Model runs have been fairly consistent with this. I'll go ahead and throw the icy mix into the forecast for Friday night. By the time we get into Saturday morning, our entire atmosphere overhead will be above 32° giving us a good dose of liquid rain. -ERIC

I've heard Lindmier say that things could get interesting here in Madison!

When should this system be done with?

The majority of the heavy shower activity should be out of our area by Monday morning.
