Precipitation Coming, but How Much?

The map at left is a picture of a precipitation forecast. This one plots how much total liquid precipitation we could see over the course of a 48 hour timespan. The time period for this map runs from Friday night at 6pm through Sunday night at 6pm. You can see the massive amounts of moisture setting up for this weekend.

Also, it is possible that one of the bullseyes of heaviest precipitation lands on the Rockford area. In this graphic, it looks like we could see up to 1.90" inches of precipitation. The overwhelming majority of these showers will be producing rain for us as we will be on the warm side of this storm system. Unfortunately, there is certainly a potential for flooding by Sunday night. -ADAM
