We always watch the jet stream because it often shows the track that storms will follow in the atmosphere. The jet stream also has an effect on our temperatures. Typicaly, it separates cold airmasses from warm airmasses.

Today, we are still stuck in the northwesterly flow and will feel a glancing blow from an arctic outbreak that is affecting the New England area. By next week, the jet stream will flatten out a bit allowing us to receive more of a westerly flow. This flow causes our air to originate from the Pacific Ocean, which is always significantly warmer than arctic air. Let's just say it will feel much more like spring in a matter of days! -ADAM

I'm thinking you and the overwhelming majority of folks are itching for the warmer weather. 60 degrees by the middle of the next work week is not out of the question! -ADAM
