East coast monster has an indirect effect on us

A major spring storm system will work across the country through the weekend. A severe weather outbreak is possible for parts of Texas and Louisiana on Friday. As the low tracks across Dixie on Saturday, severe weather is possible from Mississippi to South Carolina. On the cold side of the storm, a few wet snowflakes are possible (and remain in our forecast for Saturday). It's not until the low gets over the Atlantic's gulf stream that things get interesting. The low will intensify rapidly over the weekend causing major problems for New England. Heavy rain and higher-elevation snows are likely with wind gusts near 65mph! There is also concern that the system comes with unusually high tides. Coastal flooding is possible from Virginia through New York City, and up to Cape Cod.

The system will indirectly affect our weather as well! Big systems like this often slow any significant changes behind them...causing a blocking pattern. We won't see any drastic changes, only a slow warming trend. 50s and 60s are coming back. Let's hope our spring snow is done until next year. -ERIC
