Lack of rain becoming a concern

Typically, May is one of Rockford's wettest months. However, May 2007 has been anything but wet. Adding up all of the precipitation in the month's 22 days, we've received less than 1/2 inch! To put it in perspective, during the next nine days we will need over 3 1/2 inches just to make it to average.

As far as our future goes, it doesn't look terribly enthusiastic. A cold front will bring a quick dose of rainfall late Thursday. A more soaking rain is possible for the weekend, but the models have been over-doing the rainfall for much of this month, so we'll have to wait and see. -ERIC
