Wind Damage From Wednesday

What are the two things that yesterday and today have in common? The warmth and wind! Wind gusts yesterday afternoon reached close to 40 MPH while this afternoon we've reached close to 50 MPH! Anthony Parks from Franklin Grove sent in these pictures of a tree branch that was knocked over just from the wind we experienced yesterday. And today has been much of the same. There have been numerous reports, especially from Wisconsin, from tree branches and power lines down from the winds we've had this afternoon. One thing we should keep in mind, however, is the lack of rain we've had so far this month. With such dry conditions, branches, especially the smaller ones, are more likely to break due to the stronger winds. The good news is that through tonight and tomorrow the winds will begin to subside. - CANDY
