Cold Air Funnels

The atmosphere is favorable this afternoon for the development of cold air funnels. A cold air funnel is a high based weak circulation that typical occurs in cool air masses, like the one we have a thousand feet above us. Typically they only last a few minutes before dissipating and do not pose any threat. Sometimes however, these funnels can briefly touch the ground and produce minimal damage. Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb counties have the best chance for seeing these funnels.
