Flash Flood Warning

Update 4am: All Flash Flood Warnings have been allowed to expire.

Update 12:45am
: The line of rain showers is beginning to move out of the warning areas. A Flash Flood Warning is still in effect for Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry counties. The flooding waters will begin to recede by sunrise.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Winnebago county, Rock county, Boone and McHenry counties until early Tuesday morning. Heavy rain has been falling throughout the afternoon and evening across much of the region. Law enforcement in Rockton have reported 3 feet of standing water in low lying areas and have set up barricades for streets. Some intersections in Beloit have over a foot of standing water and part of Whiting Rd just west of Poplar Grove Rd in Boone county has been washed away. Up to an additional inch to two inches of rain is expected through midnight. Even though Winnebago county is the only county with the warning, other areas have seen over an inch of rain as well. Remember...do not attempt to drive your car through a flooded roadway. The water depth may be too deep for you to cross safely!

Thanks for the reports! Also, I had an emailer in Kingston report 1.64". All these reports help, especially when the airport only picks up 0.54".
