Look at all of the places that were warmer than Rockford, Illinois today! When we think of 100° places, we think of Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson. Today, the hot spots were up in the plains. Williston, North Dakota was 106° at 3pm with a high temperature projected around 118°. After surfing around the current temperature round-up, I found that Rockglen, SK in Canada was
111°! That's astonishing, especially when you consider the all-time hottest temperature for the entire country is 113° set in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan in 1937. Hospitals in Regina had to postpone surgeries because of the heat! Read the CBC's complete report here.Update: "Rockglen, Canada made it to 115°" says Tom Skilling, Chief Meteorologist for WGN-TV in Chicago. "Even though that temperature exceeds the all-time record for Canada, it won't stand because Rockglen isn't an official reporting station."
