While we may be under the influence of high pressure and southerly winds at the surface, a couple thousand feet up winds are from the northwest. Something meteorologists like to call "Northwest Flow". This usually allows little upper level disturbances to travel down across the upper Midwest, bringing a chance for storms with them. For today and tomorrow, the main storm threat will be to the north in the Plains and through parts of Wisconsin. But over the course of a couple of days, these little upper level disturbances will break down the flow in the upper levels of the atmosphere and bring the storm threat further to the south. Unfortunately this will fall just in time for many who will be celebrating the fourth of July. Right now, it looks like there will be a chance for storms Tuesday night into Wednesday and then once again Wednesday a

fternoon. A slight risk for severe weather is possible just to the north Tuesday and for the majority of the Stateline Wednesday. I'm sure with the next few weather computer model runs, we'll be able to get a better idea of when the rain will come and when it will end.
