Despite the recent rains the past couple of days, we are still over an inch shy of where we should be for this time of the month. On average, we typically should see 4.10" of rain for the month of July. So far, we're just under two and a half inches. The weather pattern we're going to be getting into for this upcoming week will allow storm systems to bypass us to the north and keep us dry through at least the end of the week.

We may be a little short on rain around the Ch 13 area, but our crops and lawns look a lot better than out in Iowa. From west of Wateloo to Sioux City lawns are brown and corn starting to burn.
I was out their Friday.

That's true! The crops seem to be doing well around the area. June wasn't too bad of a month for rainfall. I think that might have helped a little. Lets just hope we don't get into too much of a deficit.
the last two weeks, it seems the beneficial rain has bypassed us, with the rain being west of us, then we had the rain on the 18th and then the rain on thursday was east of us. rockford has been in a hole. lets get some more rain. lets just hope this lack of rain doesnt come back to get us in the winter with tons of snow, although snow for xmas would be nice.
It's been pretty wet in the Quad Cities...in July we have had 8.57" of rain, making it about 7th on the all time wettest July rankings...since June 1st there has been about 14 inches of rain!
I will have a monthly round up on 13News at 5 and 6 Monday. We DO need a little more rain. We can really dry out in the month of August if we don't start out with a good soaker.
Have a great night! -ERIC
