Severe Thunderstorm Warning
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for Stephenson and western Winnebago County until 10pm. The storms are capable of producing damaging winds and small hail. Frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours are also quite likely. The leading edge of the rain has just moved into the Rockford area. The back edge of the rain extends well into central Wisconsin, so expect to stay indoors for the remainder of the night. -ADAM

Think maybe you need to extend that severe storm warning? It's 10:22 and raining buckets in Freeport!
I hear you Nancy... it's raining buckets here in Winnebago too. Unfortunately, a storm is only considered severe when it is capable of producing damaging winds, hail, or tornadoes. It does not take into account the intensity of the rainfall.

Flash flood warning then maybe sometime soon?
Also if you check the lightning map theres lightning everywhere. I was just out driving and there was a flash every second or 2
we had very heavy rain around 1045 and some very vivid and intense lightning. about 1 second between flashes. i have .7 inches of rain so far and still raining. i wonder if having a gauge in the ground instead of on a fence post cuts down on rain.
