Summer's hottest weather could be a week away!

Here's a look at the European Weather Model's depiction of temperatures today versus next Tuesday. While we're nice and cool today (and even cooler tomorrow), July's heat is about to break loose and head in our direction. If this forecast model holds true, we'll be in the middle to upper 90s for the middle of next week. We won't be alone however...the entire nation would likely see 90°+ for at least a few days. -ERIC

When was the last time the stateline area hit the century mark?

forever.

Is there still the possible chance to hit 100 next week?

It's been a LONG time...many years. I checked with the NWS last year and if memory serves me right, it was 1997.

Justin: Yes, there's always a chance...probably only a 5% chance, but still. We'll have to wait and see. Generally, it's hard to get 100° here in this area when we have healthy crops in the fields. They give off lots of moisture and you need relatively dry air to get temperatures up that high. -ERIC

i know a few years ago, it hit 99 here. but it has been a long time since we hit 100. I don't even remember. Hopefully it won't get that hot. 1988 was the last time i remember it hitting 100 when we had the disastrous drought.

I know it has been a long time since its been that hot. Yeah we have had our 90 degree days and then with a heat index of 100 but i know that isn't the same. I know next week will be the week we are in the pool everyday.

hey eric, is this forecast still panning out, or is it most likely going to change. even if we get it, it is mid-july, the hottest time of year, we have to expect. Ill bet magic waters and sand park, will be filled to the brim with people. based on accuweather.com, looks like from about thursday on thru, it is going to be hot, but i trust that website like a grain of salt. 13 weather is the only one i trust.

I remember 1988 like it was Yesterday. I was married on June 18th, 1988 at good old Shannon Prairie Dell presbytarian church non-air conditioned -ruined my wedding dress because of all the sweat. Honey moon was horrible because It was so hot at the Wisconsin Dells. 100%+ heat index 104? hubby and I came home early sick from the heat. I pray we don't have a repeat of those days!-Laura

well based on what i have read with the forecast discussion on the NWS website, sounds like this heat and humidity wont be prolonged like originally thought. of course this is still a week away and things can change quickly. i will only rely on 13 weather for the correct info. how is it looking right now eric for the heat next week.
