This Afternoon, Part II

Yesterday at this time I made a post about the thunderstorm threat for Monday afternoon and evening. Today we have the same threat for storms to bubble up along the Mississippi River and move across the Stateline.

Today's thunderstorms are not the type that form out in Nebraska or Missouri and slowly move our way. Today's thunderstorms are in a volatile environment and will likely explode, just like they did yesterday, directly overhead or slightly to the west of us. Ignition could kick off around lunchtime. I would expect one line to move through this afternoon with a couple more lines reigniting behind it. These storms will probably continue into the early evening hours. Today's main severe weather threat will be gusty winds and heavy downpours from time to time.

Hopefully DeKalb can be spared today, because I think the 4.66" (official report) they received yesterday should hold them for awhile. -ADAM

do u think most of the storms will be done by the time the 3:30-4pm time frame comes. That's when I leave for work today.

Our atmosphere will likely stay fairly unstable until sunset. I don't think we'll be in the clear until then.

looks like storms are starting to form along the iowa and illinois border, and that some are already in the illinois area. Do you think there will be any watches posted this afternoon. I am hoping to go out in my pool for a lil bit before the storms get here.
