I can hear some pretty loud & long thunder right now up here in Rockton. Light to moderate rain falling now.

Why isn't the bug and crawl running on the television? I was watching it around 12:30, and the crawl froze, and I haven't seen it back up since.

Well that was a lovely system that just went through DeKalb. The tornado sirens were going for about a half hour and I heard they may have been a touchdown in Malta. Is that true? This must have come out of nowhere since you guys didn't mention the tornado warning we were under or the sirens.

There was some rotation noted near Malta as the storms moved into DeKalb. Thunderstorms produced damage in the DeKalb area along Normal Av.

As for the bug being missing, I was in a meeting with management about our severe weather coverage. I can't answer any questions as to why it was missing.

Heavy rain continues in Ogle and Lee Counties. Flash flooding will be possible there through evening.

My daughter works in the "Loop" and called to tell me that it was the worst storm she has experenced in years. Her office windows were shaking as if they were ready to blow out!

I just drove around DeKalb because I figured it'd be best to check out the flooding for myself. WOW. The Kish and the Lagoon at NIU are flooding. I took some pictures, do you guys want them?

Is the severe threat over?

To me it looks like we could get another round in the next 2-3 hours because out in Iowa looks like they are getting hit by tornadoes and severe weather. Could our weather watch be extended?

The BIG BOOM was heard way up here in northern Boone county, too! The sky really lit up and then came the loudest thunder I have ever heard! The entire house shook, and shook some more! Never felt an earthquake....hmmmm!

I heard that one to lol and i'm all the way in Winnebago..My whole house shook..It kindof scared the crap outta me!!! looks though like our watch is over with. I guess they don't think the storms out in Iowa are going to hit us or if they don't they won't be severe...

If there was anything major they would have been there to tell us. It is just the two of them with Candy being off. They have been putting in some long hours the past few days

There are some amazing pictures posted on WGN's blog in Chicago. The storms really were nasty there this afternoon. Wow.

The link to that blog is on the right hand side, the second link under 'other blogs'.

i think all in all so far, rockford has been getting spared the brunt of all the nasty stuff. we had some light to moderate rain earlier and some occasional claps of thunder, but nothing major in loves park.

If you type in google chicago news stations you will see alot of the damage to in Chicago. If you go to the weather channel they have a few short videos on their websites. Well they did as of last night.

well we have had rain here, but based on what i have seen, i would have to say that rockford has really been escaping the heaviest of the rain. i noticed on the radar this morning around 3 that the rain was coming but it looks like something was just eating away at it as it approached rockford.

Yeah it was the no more rain bug lol...=)
