You're invited to the Chicago National Weather Service open house Saturday from 9am to 3pm. Learn about weather observing, forecast and warning operations, and doppler radar. The Will County Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service Ham Radio Team will also be on hand. The tour is totally free and is a must-see for anybody interested in weather!
The National Weather Service Forecast Office is located in Romeoville at the Lewis University Airport, off Renwick Road.
Directions from the Rockford area: Take I-39 south to I-88 east. Follow I-88 past DeKalb and Aurora. Take I-355 south to I-55 south. Exit immediately at Joliet Road (which becomes Illinois Highway). Proceed south. (construction alternate: Proceed south on I-355 to Illinois 53 south.)
Pass the Lewis University entrance (on the right side). Turn right at Renwick Rd. (stoplight) The NWS has good signage from this point.
