Cold weather just won't quit!

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Stephenson, Carroll, Whiteside, and Jo Daviess County for tonight as an inch or two of snow, but more for the blowing that will take place late tonight. Visibilities will be reduced to a few feet as snow blows horizontally. Use extreme caution if you're heading out tonight!

Wind Chill Advisories are again hoisted for tonight and tomorrow (and may be needed for Wednesday night). Chill values will exceed -20° in some locations by midnight. Fortunately, it will warm up in coming days...perhaps above freezing for days six and seven.

No question it's abnormally cold, but this is getting unprecedented! Wednesday's high temperature is expected to be around 9° which is seven degrees short of the coldest high temperature ever recorded on a February 20th. If the temperature falls to -10° tomorrow night, it will tie for the coldest temperature recorded on February 21st!

If you need a little getaway right now, just click on the beach scene to the left and move your head really close to your computer screen. If you don't want to act silly in front of your computer, check out the Ft. Myers, Florida 7 Day Forecast. 85 degrees? No kidding!

These warm thoughts courtesy of a former colleague of mine, Morgan Palmer, Meteorologist for WBBH-TV.

Welp, it's official -- I'm depressed now. You just had to go and show me the beach, the beach man. . . (sobbing and shaking her head, not to mention asking "Why Eric, Why?" as she walks away from her computer)

Eric, I was wondering if you would at some point compare the weather for the winter months so far with the monthly predictions you guys made earlier? I know that forecasting is very complex, and I'm sure that those monthly predictions are even more difficult, but I am curious.
