What a doozy of a weather week the stateline has had!! I think both Smita Kaloke and myself blame it on the groundhog. haha. But after over a foot of snow this week...and temperatures below zero this weekend...not to mention the dangerous wind chill...the stateline could use a break. But I don't think Mother Nauture is going to let us off the hook just yet.
Monday night into Tuesday...another snow storm system will work it's way into Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Parts of Eastern Iowa and Galena could see 6 to 12 inches of snow while Freeport...Savanna...Dixon...Rockford...Dekalb...Rochelle...Monroe...Beloit..and Lake Geneva...could see between 3 and 6 inches. LaSalle is expected to get anywhere from 1-3 inches.
The good news the Wind Chill advisory ends at 10 tonight. The bad news...the snow Advisory starts 3 pm tomorrow until noon on Tuesday.
Also...I would just like to take this time to say tonight's 10 newscast is my last "official" weathercast for the weekends. I will still be a part of the weather team...fillining and recording cut ins. Also...I will still be a part of the weekend crew...just as a reporter. So I am transitioning over to full time news. I would just like to thank Eric and Adam for taking the time to teach so much about the weather these past few months. But most importantly I would like to thank the viewers because you guys are who I really work for. I appreciate all your supportive phone calls...emails...and conversations in the community...keep them coming. I hope you are just as welcoming to our new weekend meteorologist Justin Gehrts. I look forward to serving you guys in news as well as weather.

Gretchen,
You have weather in you, I hope you can be a reporter at WREX and you can go to school and get a degree in what you deserve! I see that WREX is a great way to do that to be honest! And the community yes we have are crimes and that, but you look at the good out of it and you could succeed in whatever you want to do!
Thanks once again for being part of the 13 News Team and Weather Team!
