Yep that's right folks....more winter is on the way. According to Punxsutawney Phil out of Punxsutawney, PA woke up this morning...and probably much to most of America's dismay saw his shadow.
The result?? Six more weeks of winter...taking us all the way up to March 20th.
The traditon says if a groundhog comes up out of his burrow...and does not see his shadow because the skies are cloudy...then winter will soon come to the end. But today the opposite was true. Phil saw his shadow...so bring on more winter weather.
The earliest reference to Groundhog Day was made in 1841 and the tradition has been kept alive ever since. Most analysis claim that the groundhog has about 40% success rate in predicting the weather, which doesn't stop thousands of people from celebrating Groundhog Day every year.
Well for the next few days...temps should reach the lower 40's but take heart...Phil is right. More snow is expected for the stateline this week.

Hard to get excited about a woodchuck. At least if its out looking for its shadow its not causing any other damage to the property.
Groundhog or no, I'd be betting on 6 more weeks of this slop either way.
