Wintry Weather Pattern Continues

In general, it appears as though the wintry weather pattern will continue across the region for the next week. Overall, an elongated trough (downward arc in the jet stream) appears to want to stay in place across the midsection of the country. This should continue to send storm system after storm system across the area. From the looks of it, we probably will get hit with some snow every third day. Another inch is likely today. A quick inch or two is possible during the second half of Valentine's Day, while the snowmaker for next Sunday/Monday potentially could be significantly stronger.

This trough is also going to play a major role in our temperature regime. This will cause our high temperatures to continue to stay below average, and allow us to occasionally receive a shot of arctic air. Highs probably will be stuck below the freezing mark, and lows should continue to fall into the teens and single digits. Needless to say, the family of snowmen you have in your backyard won't be going anywhere. -ADAM

Actually bobby, I think justin answered that in the topic just below this one entitled inching closer to a record. I think he said that the band of snow set up further north in wisconsin.

I think it is because Mother Nature is out to get me. Where I was (Madison, WI) it snowed all day.

Please tell Mother Nature that She wins, I conceed, & I'm waving a white flag (which perhaps she can't see due to all the white snow in the background).

I am not sure how much snow we actually accumulated here in Dixon but it snowed very lightly most of the day and right around 5:00pm or so it started snowing heavier.

Personally, I am glad it did not accumulate as much as we thought..I think we have quite enough. Still thinking Spring!

It snowed all day in DeKalb, sometimes heavily. How many inches did we get?
