Earlier this year, it seemed as though we couldn't even buy a nice weekend. As of late, weekends have come and gone virtually without incident. We'll round out the weekend on a great note with highs in the mid-80s under a mostly sunny sky. Definitely a day to spend outdoors if you can... in fact, to the left are my highlighted community events. We can thank high pressure for our quiet weather the past few days. In the classic battle of high pressure vs. low pressure, you can place your bets on the high. It pretty much calls
the shots, and this time, it's no different. It's strong enough to essentially shield that upper-level low that's causing all sorts of nasty weather in the Rockies from making any eastward progression. As long as that high hangs tough, that upper low won't budge too far in our direction. Of course, no medieval shield would be complete without a medieval sword.

Slightly off topic... and far away... but any idea how this winter looks? Any la nina or el nino or any of that?
When was the last year WITHOUT a 90° day? Has it ever happened in Rockford?
