Potential for First Widespread Frost

Frost Advisories were issued early this morning for almost all of southern Wisconsin by the Milwaukee office of the National Weather Service. A frost advisory is issued when frost is expected to develop during the growing season. If you have tender plants or vegetation you may want to cover them up or bring them inside to avoid damage. This could be the first widespread frost event of the fall with crystal clear skies and nearly calm winds expected. These factors contribute to a nearly optimal setup for radiational cooling. The Quad Cities and Chicago offices of the NWS are waiting until the afternoon shifters make their forecast to decide whether or not to issue a frost advisory for portions of northern Illinois.

Regardless, of where you are tonight it will turn chilly quickly. If you are headed to one of the many high school football games across the region be sure to bring a blanket. If you forget that, hopefully you can find some warm cider or hot chocolate to keep your core heated thoroughly. -ADAM
