Record high in jeopardy

Update: 83 degrees at 1pm!

Original post: The occasional veil of high clouds isn't stopping the sunshine from doing its job today! My forecast high of 80 has already been surpassed as of noon - RFD reported 81 degrees at 12pm. The record high is 85, which may very well be tied or broken this afternoon.

Yeah, record high is 85. Last night I said it was 84... apparently my glasses were smudged, because I could've sworn the climate data said 84.

Yep it was very warm in our house too, and my dad turned our AC on again. Hopefully it will be the last time until next summer.

No A/C for me ... let Mr. Sun warm up the house nicely ... it should hold enough heat to make it through the next few cloudy days w/out having to fire up the furnace.

By the end of the week, highs in the 60's with sun again, solar warming should make it quite pleasant.

So I'm about half way through my annual October Furnace Challenge ... haven't fired it up yet, trying to make it to Nov. 1st w/out having to turn it on.

Experience has shown that with concerted effort, I can actually heat the house enough w/out firing up the furnace so long as it is sunny during the day even with daytime temps in the 40's and nighttime temps in the 20's.

Its those long strings of cloudy days (like we often get in November & December) that do in the best of solar warming efforts.
