Remembering Heather Pick

Anyone who has watched Rockford television for a few years remembers Heather Pick. Early today we received the news she lost her battle with breast cancer. She was an anchor for many years here at WREX until 2002 when she and her family moved to Columbus, Ohio. The station she worked for put up a wonderful tribute to her life on their website. If you didn't know too much about Heather when she was here, you'll learn a lot about the friend she was to many of my colleagues here at 13WREX.

While I didn't know her personally, I know the legacy she leaves behind here and that she will remain one of our station's favorite, most revered news anchors.

I remember Heather Pick well, and her brave fight with the disease that eventually took her life.

She made a documentary of her treatments while she was on leave from WREX, and I remember when she shared it with viewers in order to demystify the disease and its treatment, and to get the word out about this important disease to other women.

My thoughts and prayers go to her family and all who knew and worked with her.
