Here are some snowfall totals from our network of observers and National Weather Service reports. As expected areas south of US20 were spared the significant snow accumulation, one of our bloggers Kim from Rochelle writes "I couldnt get an accurate measurement after almost sliding off my porch. I couldn't get through the ice underneath but I would say a good 5 inches fell here and the wind is starting to pick up as sheets of ice are falling off my house." So even though we don't have high totals to our south it seems they got quite a bit more ice.
The official storm total from the Chicago-Rockford Int'l Airport is 7.7 inches as of 11:00am.
Blowing and drifting will occur through the afternoon making east-west roads treacherous. Please exercise caution if you are going to travel on any rural roadways this afternoon and evening.

The city of Rockford has done a great job of keeping the roads clear... Im pretty surprised.
So I was on Yahoo and saw a video on the snow in Chicago this morning.
Jim Cantore from the weather channel was doing a live shot this morning at 730am and caught flashes of lightning on tape. Wild stuff!
You can click here to view the video on Yahoo and watch about at :45.
oh by the way he was live in chicago this morning.
I just now got to see the radar from this morning around 7am after i got to work and now I see why we had white out conditions at work. I could not see across our parking lot to the gas station. Thats how intense it was.
Dear Mother Nature,
Thank You for the many beautiful Gifts of Snow that You have bestowed upon us recently.
We don't mean to seem ungrateful, but we now have more snow than we know what to do with.
Please give any further gifts of snow to those who need it more than we do.
We believe that others should be able to share in Your bounty, and - truly - we have already been blessed with far more than we deserve.
Very Truly Yours,
The Midwest
