Here is a look at some of the most recent snowfall reports across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The report for Rockford is the official tally from the airport as of 6am. I don't expect any additional measurable snowfall for today, but what snow is sitting on the ground will continue to blow around as our northerly winds gust up to 35 mph.
Just as you get done blowing the driving and shoveling the sidewalk, we may have to do the same dance by the peak of the work week. Our next storm system is setting up to affect us during the daytime hours on Wednesday. The graphic to the left is the liquid precipitation output during this timeframe by the HPC.
It is estimating about 0.25" of liquid, which with a 10:1 ratio would equate to 2.5" of snow. I am not putting a forecast total on the 7 day just yet as I will let the big chief hoist that number later today, but my bet would be to stick us in the 1-3" snowfall range with this next storm. I don't think it will be as bullish as Sunday's situation due to the orientation of the storm. The low that brought us Sunday's snow passed to the south of us between St. Louis and Detroit. This next low will swing to the north giving us more of a cold front induced snow, rather than a wrap around moisture scenario. -ADAM
