Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for all areas for Tuesday and Wednesday. Because Wednesday's storm still may be stronger than projected the NWS Quad Cities and Milwaukee have hoisted Winter Storm Watches for Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside, Stephenson, Green, Rock, and Walworth Counties.
Snow will overspread the area early Tuesday morning and continue through most of the day. There may be a small lull in the action early Wednesday morning before another area of low pressure develops. This one will complicate Christmas Eve travel in a big way with total accumulations of 6-12 inches. Stay with the 13Weather Authority as our team works to tackle another big storm.
One last thing? Be sure to use common sense and a lighter accelerator-foot when traveling to your destination.

13weather authority always tackles bad storms with the best. Better than any station. Now if wednesdays storm is stronger ,that I am guessing would raise our totals. Am I correct.
I agree with your last statement there eric. I see so many times when there is heavy snow falling and the roads are horrendous, I could be going about 5 under the speed limit and people pass me like I am the slowest driver around.
When will the snow be done Wednesday? Have family coming from Detroit area and Champaign
Wednesday evening should bring improving conditions. -ES
OK, thanks for the info.
Come on 12". I want a record!
Hello again WREX weather team. I was wondering if you had any ideas as to when each of these systems will end. The reason I ask is for a selfish reason. It would be a big help for me to know when the snow will end so that I can let my other plow drivers know in advance when to get ready to tackle the snow. Take Care.
Chad, today's snow is tough to determine when it will end because it won't be a finite thing. It is going to be periodic in nature. My bet for an extended dry timeframe in between these systems comes between midnight and 6am. Then tomorrow's action should wrap up by noon. That means after lunch on Christmas Eve, tell your drivers to get to work so we can all celebrate the holidays in peace!
I-39/90 from stateline to Madison is slippery but drivable if you slow down and use common sense.
Haha will do. By the way Adam sorry to see that your Vikings lost. It's good news for us Bears fans, but it always stinks when your team doesn't come through. I wouldn't be to dissapointed though as I think the Vikings will end up taking the NFC North this year.
Have a great day guys.
Thanks for the condolences Chad. I even somehow brought myself to cheer for the Packers last night, which obviously wasn't enough. Eric should have put on the Cheese Head... maybe that would've worked...
WREX team - Why are you guys only saying 2-4 more inches for tonight/tomorrow's system when the NWS has now put us here in Stephenson county in a Winter Storm Warning saying 5-7 inches?
Thanks
Jeremy, because the NWS is out to lunch on that forecast. Liquid precipitation totals will probably only be around a tenth of an inch, which is why I'm sticking with 2-4" for the Christmas Eve snowfall.
