What's odd with this system is it seems there will be a stripe of higher snowfall amounts across Central Wisconsin, and another band from Galesburg up to Elgin. The QPF forecast from the HPC shows the heaviest amounts pretty much anywhere north of I-88..
I thought that areas to the northwest would have MORE snow than areas in the Rock River Valley this time due to the QPF Day 1 Forecast from the HPC.
And, what is your opinion on how much snow will fall--because during the last few storms, and especially the last storm, you guys were dead on!
It should start earlier in the morning here in Eastern IA, correct? Will it start early enough to adversely affect the morning commute?

That would be the snow ratio for tomorrow's storm!
For instance, if Rockford were forecasted to get .4" of liquid, they would get 5.2" of snow.

Hah, well I live in Dubuque, Iowa where we don't get channel 13 WREX, but in nearby Jo Daviess County, they do.
It was a good guess, though.

Yep it is the computer model forecast for next mondays storm. I just rewound my dvr and heard it. Eric, you and the 13 team are the best, but I sure hope you are dead wrong about that. We sure don't need 13 inches of snow. Although that might give us a better chance of a white xmas if it stuck around 2 weeks.
I sure hope the snow accumulation total for next Mon/Tues does not come to fruition...Seems we are far enough out that those totals could change significantly...couldn't they?

As much as I love snow with christmas coming, I sure hope that does not happen. Maybe about 6-10 inches, but not over a foot. That would be something though if within a full calendar year we were to get 2 storms of a foot or more.

Hey eric, how bad do you think it will be at 3pm tomorrow. That is what time I get off of work.
Rockford will receive between 3 and 6 inches. Unless something drastic changes, this is pretty cut and dry. 0.30 to 0.40 inches of liquid. With a 13 to 1 ratio, that puts us right in the middle of the range. -ES
p.s. I had to take the 13.1 off the blog for fear that there would be a mob outside the station when I get off of work tonight. :) If you have no idea what I'm talking about...consider it a good thing!

i was looking at wrex home page and you said areas NW of Rockford will get 3-6in. but on the outlook it says 3-6in. for rockford,belvidere, elgin??
I totally missed this foot of snow graphic. I took a nap and all of a sudden we've got a crippling snow storm next week? I'm scared to look at the extended models or just scared of Eric.

I think the new models come in around 10 or shortly before that. Regardless, everyone just remember to slow down and take it easy on the roads.

Well, I pretty much going to be like a revolving door anyways next 3 weeks, next Tuesday were suppose to start mass receiving at the new Lowe's store in MP, working long hours for 3 weeks in a row, it will be like go to work, come home go to bed, get up go to work come home go to bed kind of a thing lol

New model data is run every six hours (12am, 6am, 12pm, 6pm). It typically takes a couple of hours for us to see the first of the processed data. Also, our longer-term model doesn't start until the short-term model is complete.
And when it's after 9 or 9:30, it's best to just hang tight until the 10pm news if you're looking for info.
I better say something or we will be having customers knocking at the door next Tuesday, we don't open up to the public until the end of January, it's just for employees, we have set up a store for all of you!
Justin, I am so confused.
Des Moines NWS and La Crosse NWS are not collaborated, and their forecast discussions are confusing, not because of techincal terms, but because of contradiction and incollaboration between offices.
Could you try and make sense of this, please?
