Long-term models: severe cold for middle January

January 10th is climatologically the middle of winter as temperature averages begin rising shortly thereafter. However the coldest temperatures of this winter may be coming just after that! Take a look at this temperature projection map. It doesn't show high temperatures in the usual fashion; instead it shows the departure from average. The purple shading over the Ohio Valley and Midwest indicates temperature highs fifteen degrees colder than normal. In case you're wondering normal high temperatures are in the middle 20s for this time frame.

I am just wondering if we have any major snow on the ground if it could get colder than that.

Bleh.

I just got an open invitaation to visit a friend in NM "any time I want."

So when should I schedule my vacation?

I'm really sick of this Winter already!

I suggest leaving tomorrow and not coming back until about mid-April... you should be pretty safe from snow and cold by that point.

Ah, if only I had that much vacation coming I'd be outta here in a heartbeat.

I think that's called "retirement."

Not gonna happen any time soon.

Wonder if I could buy a cheap snowplow ("needs work") from the folks up in Crookston, MN?

Somehow, in a variation on the "Nasty Weather When Eric Goes On Vacation" scenario, it seems as though we've been getting an awful lot of Nasty Weather on Weekends When Eric is Off lately.

How is the storm looking for tuesday into wednesday. Does it still look bad or is it not as bad as thought.

Yeah, I've been waiting patiently for the weather cycle to shift off the weekend...

What would we do without justin and eric giving us our entertainment on a slow weather day. Thats why 13 weather team rocks. They can joke around and have fun when the weather is quiet and be serious when there is severe weather or a bad winter storm. Im still waiting for the weather team to come up with a dance.

Actually I think eric should arrange a time for all the bloggers on here to come to the studio and watch a 10pm weather cast and watch how eric makes his forecasts.
