McGrath, Alaska


Can you imagine a 100-degree temperature swing in less than a week? That happened in McGrath, AK. Look at the temperature scale on the chart to the left (you can click on it for a larger version). -50 to +50 in less than a week! You can look at the detailed monthly summary by clicking here.

By the way, the normal high in McGrath is a couple degrees above zero, so they were more than 40 degrees above normal. That would be like us getting a high near 80 this time of year.

My friend Dave who lives in McGrath tells me the town is pretty much a sheet of ice with snowmelt, rain, then it all freezing again.

Hm... Im guessing that 50 degree weather isnt headed this way anytime soon.
