Latest for Friday Night's Snow

Justin broke it down quite well earlier today. After checking the latest model guidance, it seems as though they are starting to come to the same solution once again. Early this morning the majority of the models were showing a weakening storm system by the time it reached us. Within the past hour though, even the NAM model (the one holding out) has come in line with causing a potent snow storm over Nebraska to fizzle out by the time it reaches the Stateline. The map to the right is from the GFS model for Saturday at 6am. If there was a closed low spinning over southern Indiana we'd be talking about plowing some serious snow, but it seems like the low completely gets phased out.

As you can see in my "Storm Specifics", if you are a long sleeper you may completely miss this event as it starts late Friday night and ends shortly after sunrise on Saturday. I slightly tweaked the snowfall forecast map and it is updated on the right side of the screen. Normally a system like this would be something you would say ho-hum to, but since we haven't seen any decent snow storms in almost a month it is fairly noteworthy. -ADAM
