Record setting warmth!

Southerly winds will continue to blow strong for Tuesday! What's interesting about our pattern is the fact that not only surface winds, but winds aloft will be blowing in from the SSW. This is the perfect way to get temperatures to warm quickly and efficiently.

No one has forgotten what these warm, winter days can do. The last time we were in the 60s in January or February, we had a tornado. So this warmth is something to celebrate because it comes with abundant sunshine! If we get into the 60s it will only be the seventh time we've seen our first 60° temperature come this early.
Here is the list of the only 60°+ temperatures we've ever seen this early in the season.

  • 60° January 4, 1997
  • 63° January 7, 2008 (Poplar Grove tornado)
  • 60° January 21, 1960
  • 61° January 26, 1944
  • 61° January 27, 1944
  • 63° January 31, 1989
  • 63° February 9, 2009

...trying to figure out how to play hookey from w*rk tomorrow...

Unfortunately I am the world's worst liar when it comes to calling in sick. Conversations typically go like this:

Me: I'm sick.
Boss: You are not. You're the worst liar I've ever met.
Me: Oh shoot. Maybe I'm getting sick...
Boss: Yeah, right. Stop by my office when you get here.
