13WREX is forecasting December 2007 to be warm. This is not to say that there won't be any cold snaps. In fact, there could be a few potent cold fronts. Some single digit temperatures will be possible, but temperatures are likely to be slightly above average.We are entering a La Niña winter. Going back through the record books for La Niña winters, many Decembers have seen big snows! December 2000 was right at the beginning of a strong La Niña and produced saw 30 inches of snow in one month. So, I'd say there's a better than 50/50 chance of there being an above-average month in terms of precipitation (both rain and snow). Historically, Rockford has a 50% chance of a white Christmas each year. With this outlook, I'd have to agree with Meteorologist Adam Painter's thought that there would be a higher probability of snow for the holidays.

I remember December 2000. We had a major snow at the beginning of the month, then it seemed like every other day we kept piling on more. The snow for a while was up to our living room window sill. Now what would temps be if it is slightly above normal. Would that be like temps in the mid 30s. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

December 1st: Average high 38 degrees

I remember that winter of 2000 also. Seems to me that we had a nasty December but the rest of the winter was relatively mild.
I really want snow.
Is there gonna be any big snows like the december 1st snow storm we saw last year?
I don't think adam and eric and gretchen can predict if we have any big storms coming this far out, but they do a darn good job when the models are showing something brewing. That's why I rely on 13. the storm last year, first they said it would hit, then it would miss, then eventually it did hit and eric and candy and adam were giving up to the second details. Keep up the great work you three. 13 news rocks.
Plus it seems like winter storms can change at any time... almost impossible to forecast.
