Easter weekend is quickly approaching and I'm sure a lot of folks have travel plans. If you are heading out on Friday, you might run into some adverse conditions. The current track is favorable for receiving snow during the wintertime, but forecasting snow in the spring can sometimes be a little different. It is tough to pinpoint whether or not we will have enough cold air in place during the main precipitation event to receive significant snowfall accumulations. The delicate freezing line right now appears to be setting up directly overhead. The forecast is entirely dependent upon if the track stays the same or if it switches north or south by 30 miles over the next three days. One thing is for sure, we will get some measurable precipitation on Friday. How much comes in the frozen or liquid form is up in the air.Another point to make is a recent trend with some of the models. The models have been overdoing precipitation totals several days in advance of the onset of a storm. By the time these storms have reached us the precipitation totals have been fairly weak. This has been taking place for over three weeks now. For instance, yesterday some models were outputting over half an inch of liquid for Friday. Today, they are closer to .4" of liquid precipitation. This trend is something I will definitely be monitoring over the next 48 hours. -ADAM
