Tonight's system: Moisture starved

Low pressure will skirt across the Upper Great Lakes tonight and early Tuesday bringing some rain and snow to the Midwest. Accumulating snow will occur from Minneapolis/St. Paul over to Green Bay with some wet snowflakes or light rain showers from Rockford, northward. There won't be huge amounts of moisture with this system because an area of high pressure over Dixie will keep the Gulf of Mexico shut off.

The next system that works down the pike won't have the same fate. A high-precip event is possible for Thursday/Friday of either variety, rain or snow. We'll blog more about this in coming hours/days. -ERIC

Well if we get a little more than 2 inches of snow during those days, we would break our record, but I hope it is rain. We don't need any snow.

Somebody please remind Mother Nature that by the end of this week the normal high is supposed to be 50 at this time of the year.

I'm ready for a return to normal, please.

When do you think we'll get to the normal temps as wi weather buff was talking about? Are we going to just stay below normal for a long time?

Today we should make it slightly above average, but by tomorrow below average temps will be felt once again. An extended run of above average temps is not in sight at this time.

I mentioned a week ago today that I didn't think we would hit 60° before March wound down. I have since dared Mother Nature to prove me wrong, but as you can see on the 7 day outlook it just isn't going to happen.
