The Ground Can't Take Anymore

Last night as I watched the rain fall at a steady pace I started seeing some areas of standing water. After receiving around an inch of rain yesterday, the ground is completely saturated. The skies stay dry today, but that won't be enough time for the soil to recover. Another potent rainmaker is set to make a mess on Thursday. The graphic to the right is a 24 hour precipitation output by the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC) running from 7am Thursday to 7am Friday. It is spitting out between 1-3" of liquid during this timeframe for our viewing area. Because of the high likelihood of getting soaked tomorrow, a FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been issued for all of northern Illinois for Thursday. Needless to say, if you have some errands to run in the near future I would get them done today, because tomorrow appears fairly unpleasant. -ADAM
