Update - 5:20 p.m.: Large tornadoes reported in northeast Iowa. Parkersburg (NW of Waterloo) reportedly has sustained a great deal of damage. 1-mile wide tornado reported by a trained storm spotter - one I know personally. Iowa State spotters also reporting a very large tornado... Fortunately, this activity will remain away from here for several hours. On its current track, it will remain to our north. I'll be watching to see if it starts to make more of a east-southeast turn over the next couple hours.
Update - 3:33 p.m.: Much of Iowa is now under a Tornado Watch. Storms are beginning to develop near I-35. These storms are still a number of hours away. Just a heads-up that there is activity to our west...
Original Post: Our friends in northern Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and western Wisconsin have been put under a Tornado Watch. The southeast corner of the watch includes Grant County, Wisconsin, which is quite close to the WREX viewing area.
The main threat for us out of this appears to be strong winds, as the storms will have likely congealed into a squall line by the time they reach our area. Some locally heavy rain is also a possibility.
Naturally, I'll be here with updates as conditions warrant.
