Last week, our viewers rose to the occasion to help out our neighbors in Iowa. Another flood relief drive has been organized - WREX, Angel Flight Central, and Emery Air are teaming up to send additional aid to flood-stricken Iowans. We hope that you can once again help out the people in Iowa.
Operation Hawkeye Relief is taking place this Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There are two drop-off locations: one at Emery Air at Chicago Rockford Int'l Airport and one in the parking lot between Gustafson's Furniture and Cliffbreakers at North Main and Riverside. Four planes will then take the donations to Cedar Rapids on Friday evening.
Here is a list of supplies we're looking for:
- Deodorant
- Toys - Board Games, Coloring Books, Crayons, Markers
- Flashlights and battery powered lanterns
- First Aid Supplies - Band-Aids etc.
- Hair brushes
- Toothpaste & Toothbrushes
- Wet Wipes
- Toilet Paper
- Diapers
- Desitin
- Razors & Shaving Cream
- Feminine Products
- Soap

We are not looking for heavy boxed items like canned goods and water.
An Iowa-sized "thank you!" in advance ... we hope to see you on Friday!

Oh good I can get a bunch of these real cheap at work.
One of my fellow colleagues had trouble getting this post online, and wanted to make sure that this message got on the blog:
I am Meteorologist Mark Schnackenberg and I work in eastern Iowa at the sister station of WREX. Everyone in our television group has been very helpful to us in the last few weeks. We were directly impacted by the floods and have been taking on water in our basement for almost a week. Many people in our state have lost everything. Our own secretary, who has been with the station for more than 30 years, is one of the victims of the flood. On behalf of my fellow co-workers and all the Iowans that are trying to put their lives back together... I would like to say THANK YOU in advance for all you can do at this time.

Please help us spread the word on this. Relief efforts like this come with short notice. If you could tell your friends and neighbors about it we would really appreciate it!
Eric - congrats on the award!
Well we just had a storm here in loves park, with torrential rain and pea sized hail.
