Slight Risk the Rest of the Work Week

The Storm Prediction Center has placed us under a slight risk for severe weather starting this afternoon and running through Friday night. The dynamics of the atmosphere tend to point to the potential of hail and damaging winds out of the stronger storms that do develop. The large size of the slight risk areas should tell you that the models are diverging a bit with the track of this storm system. The timing for today's severe weather threat (if anything were to occur) would be late afternoon through the evening. If I had to pick one day in which I thought the severe weather scenario looked the most likely, I would pick Friday.

The area of more important focus may turn out to be the potential for heavy rainfall. The Chicago National Weather Service office has hinted at the possibility for a Flash Flood Watch later this week. At this point, we'll take it one day at a time. -ADAM
