- Dress for the heat.
- Drink water.
- Eat small meals and eat more often.
- Avoid using salt tablets unless directed to do so by a physician.
- Slow down.
- Stay indoors when possible.
- Take regular breaks.
On a related note, the heat index, or "feels like" temperature, is an important number to remember. It's the temperature your body thinks it is because of the heat/humidity combination. And remember - temperature is measured in the shade! If you're in full sunshine, you can easily tack on at least 10° to the temperature.
To read this chart, just find where the temperature and dew point have a common spot. For example, today's forecast high is 90°, and we're expecting a dew point near 70°. So, the heat index will be in the neighborhood of 97°, give or take.

What a coincidence that eric has been gone a week and we have had severe storms and now the true summer time heat. Maybe it will cool down some when he gets back. I hope he is enjoying himself. Adam and justin, you two have done a superb job holding down the fort.

As for the heat, looking at some of the extended models shows that our high temperatures should be at or above average everyday through the end of July.
Wow, so basically no relief in sight for the heat. Well considering how lucky we have been to not have extended heat waves, I guess we were due for it. Thank goodness for AC.
