EXCLUSIVE SEVERE WEATHER COVERAGE
LIVE CHAT
Please use your first name and hometown as your username. Basic ground rules - don't try to forecast storms or whether a warning will be issued.
[Chat is over for the night, thanks for joining us!]
9:35pm - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Winnebago, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Boone, McHenry, Green, Rock, and Walworth until 1am.
9:30pm - The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a Tornado Watch for Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Carroll, and Whiteside Counties until midnight.
A line of severe thunderstorms continues to race east toward the Mississippi River as of 9:30pm. These storms have a history of producing wind damage and will maintain their intensity as they cross into Northwestern Illinois by 10pm. The Storm Prediction Center is monitoring our area for a possible Severe Thunderstorm Watch or Tornado Watch. Normally when you see a squall line like this it points toward straight-line wind instead of tornadoes, but some shear is noted and a small threat of twisters will exist.
We'll continue to monitor and post the latest right here. -ERIC

Hey guys, love the chat, but before it gets going tonight, can I ask that you post the super important things outside the chat? Sometimes its really hard to scroll back through all the comments to find what Eric said vs. everyone else. Thanks!
