Tropical Storm Fay's intensity may slowly increase tonight as Southwest Florida braces for rain and wind. We may wake up to Hurricane Fay, but this is not expected to be a super-storm. Rather, a heavy rain maker. Some locations may receive 4-8 inches of rain.
Areas along the coast from Marco Island/Naples up to Captiva, Sanibel, and Port Charlotte may see wind damage tonight and early tomorrow. Latest computer models show Fay going due north over Florida (perhaps providing much-needed drought relief for Georgia and the Carolinas by week's end.
A former colleague and friend of mine, Morgan Palmer, is blogging about Fay on the WBBH-TV weather blog.
