SEVERE WEATHER COVERAGE & LIVE CHAT

8:15pm - We'll be putting up a summary of storm reports soon. It appears that Mt. Morris experienced major damage, including reports of a phone tower downed and a house destroyed.

We're watching for storm redevelopment to our west later tonight. They will be capable of producing another round of severe weather and very heavy rainfall.

Thanks to everybody who participated in the chat this evening.

Original post -

Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until midnight for the entire WREX viewing area. Damaging winds, large hail, heavy downpours, and perhaps an isolated tornado are possible.

We'll put warnings and storm reports in the post below this one, as well as in the chat.

If you experience severe weather, take shelter! After the storm passes, please pass along any information regarding storm intensity or damage.

For your username in the chat, please use your first name and the city in which you live. Also, please do not attempt to forecast storm evolution or whether watches/warnings will be issued or removed.

I just want to say that I'm in "vacation" in the burbs, but I'm still checking WREX for the weather. The "big city" news guys can't compete w/your info - easy to find, accurate, and understandable!!! That's coming from someone who greatly missed Chicago TV when I moved out to the Stateline!
