Many in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin have been searching for warmer weather since the first half of October. This pesky weather pattern has steered an abundance of cold air in from Canada. Meteorologists refer to this weather pattern as "northwest flow." Northwest flow usually brings us cool, dry weather (for me? Boring weather!) While this pattern won't budge for the next 2 days, things look better after day 2 (if you like warmer weather).
The "GFS" computer model is drastically turning this Northwest flow around next week. The image above shows the upper-wind flow for Wednesday. The image below shows the upper-wind flow for next Tuesday. A ridge of high pressure will build over the center part of the country bringing the stormtrack well north into Canada. This pattern could yield high temperatures near 65° for us for the early to middle part of next week.
Now, one thing to watch is if this weather model is concise! The GFS model runs twice daily. If this model doesn't deviate by tomorrow, you'll see some 60s in the Seven Day Outlook. For now, I'll play things conservative and stick to some (still pretty nice) 50s. -ERIC
