New information released by the National Climatic Data Center shows that October 2006 was the 29th coolest October on record! (1895-2006). Nearly every region of the country saw temperatures below average. This hasn't happened since the chilly month of February 2003. As you remember, Summer 2006 was the second warmest summer the nation has seen since records began late in the 19th century. For Illinois, there have been only 13 colder Octobers since 1895!
The latest forecast for the nation shows November 2006 will likely average slightly above average. Keep your fingers crossed! -ERIC
