2006 will be another year that will go down in the record books. According the National Weather Service, 2006 had the 2nd least amount of freezing or below freezing high temperatures with data going back to 1906 for Rockford.
This also goes along with it being the 11th warmest year for Rockford in it's respective history. Typically, Rockford should see about 50 days with high temperatures at or below freezing in a year.
