Thousands Still Without Power out West

Thousands are still without power throughout Nebraska after last weekends freezing rain and snow storm. The weight of the ice brought down numerous power lines and transmitter causing major power outages in the state. Some officials say that while power may be restored to some of the more urban areas, it could take MONTHS for them to completly restore the power to the rural regions! As a result, the Governor as asked for Federal Funds for several counties in the state. Click here to read more about the how this storm has had an effect on residents in Nebraska.

Unfortunately, people are not the only ones that are feeling the effects of the storm. Cattle have been stranded out in fields for the past week because of large snow drifts not allowing them to find food. So the National Guard has not only been dropping food off to residents, but also hay for the cattle.
